Step 1: Read the book
Step 2: Get hands on experience (if your not in the field yet spend some dough and get some equipment)
Step 3: Purchase some practice exams (You don't know how many Cisco products I have installed and supported and yet lots of the questions are alien to me). You need to know the material Cisco wants you to know.
Step 4: Pass test, enjoy victory.
Overall each book I read solidifies what I already know, improves upon concepts I am just trying to understand and provides some "aha" moments for when I stumble upon something I didn't know (not that I know everything!) This book was no exception.
