Quite simply stated, the book is excellent. The writing, use of examples, topic coverage, level of detail, exercises at the end of each chapter, and supplementary online code and materials, are all, in my view, outstanding. I highly recommend the book for adoption in AI courses and for self-study. Remarkably and generously, while the book can be purchased in hard copy form, the entire textbook is also available online for free (which has proved very popular with my students).
